It started when I saw a tweet from former US President Barack Obama cheering on the defending US Women’s team as they prepared to play their first game in this year’s FIFA World’s cup in France by resharing an “usie” he took with the 2015 team that took the top prize 4 years ago.

Then I clicked the hashtag, #OneNationOneTeam and was practically moved to tears to see all the major US teams from the NFL (National Football League) to the NBA (National Basketball Association) to MLB (Major League Baseball) and of course MLS (Major League Soccer) reshare similar side by side images of a player from the team with a member of the USWNT with messages of encouragement.
It meant a lot that the teams celebrating the ladies were men because of Title IX and the ongoing struggle for pay and other parity and equity in women’s athletics and for women, in general, in the U.S.
It really warmed my heart and showed me and others out here who work in the digital space what a top notched unified PR, Marketing and promotion campaign looks like.
Most of the tweets were made within the three hour coin drop for the match against Thailand that happens today at 3:00pm ET!
