TMZ recently reported about how business is drastically down for Instagram models who are used to earning a half a million dollars a year from sponsored posts, paid shoutouts and merchandise.
Abigail Ratchford, who has 9 million Instagram followers; Ella Rose who has 811K IG followers; Desiree Schlotz, who has 423K IG followers, and another with over 2 million followers told TMZ that their gigs are expiring with advertisers waiting to April to renegotiate, shoots are being canceled, and they are limited to making up their own content, shooting themselves indoors.
Those who live in California are being forced to do their own make up and hair because makeup artists, hair stylists and photographers are blocked from work due to Cali’s “Safer at Home” order.
Ratchford said her saving grace has been other lesser known influencers who have been paying her for shout outs given the changing social media algorithms are making it harder for them to scale.
It’s like they are being forced to go back to square one and live the life that solopreneurs who have been trying to make it as online entrepreneurs have been enduring…
…oh and realizing that it’s never a good idea to have your eggs in one basket and should (1) have your own website; and (2) need to have more than one stream of income.
I recommend GoDaddy for website hosting and WordPress for a platform.
