One of the most important things any digital publisher or online platform needs to sustain traffic and maintain itself is a community of supporters and repeat visitors and users.
A key way to do nourish a ripe virtual community is to cultivate a following in social media and leading them back to your platform or site.
There are a few schools of thoughts on how to accomplish this.

Another theory suggests that principals who are small publishers and lean startups, in particular, become early adopters in new social media platforms.
