This Sunday, I joined my fellow members of the Dynamic Divas running group I co-founded and two other athletic groups, What’s Your Excuse and Drop Zone Boot camp and we tackled the Warrior Dash, a 5K obstacle course! It is one of several held throughout the year at various locations and is among a new series of obstacle courses for adult adventurers that include the Tough Mudder, The Spartan Race and MetroDash. Imagine, people paying $45 to be tortured? It was tres fun! And what a racket! When you factor in the money these folks make off the entry fee, parking ($10), food, upgrades and photos, you’re looking and a million dollar operation here!
It was mad fun. The ride to Mechanisville, Maryland helped ease my apprehension about having to dive into and wade through muddy water, jump over fire and crawl under barbed wire. Along the way, I discovered that there are lots of Armish living in southern Maryland. Who knew!?!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE PUTTING ONE OF THESE RACES ON THEIR BUCKET LIST!
