There is no doubt that women earn less than men in the workplace. It is said that the gender pay gap will expire in 53 years, which means that we, as a society in America, do not have much time left to close that gap. I do believe, however, that the wage gap partially has to do with the fact that women traditionally stay home with the kids, work part-time and work in low wage jobs like social work, teaching, administrative while men, generally have high wage jobs like in the medical, engineering and tech fields.
The problem, however, is that in high skilled, high income jobs, women still earn less htan their male counterpart doing the exact same job.
Makers of online digital greetings cards for businesses, Ecard Stack, put together an infographic breaking down the pay gap so we can appreciate the difference as presented in a visualization.
The graphic shows 11 of the top tech jobs that have the biggest pay gap, including:
- Computer programmer
- Database engineer
- Graphic designer
- Software architect
- Front end developer
- SEO Strategist
